2 quickies
tshirthell dilbert
This first is from a recently added T-Shirt Hell shirt, and the second is from the April 11, 2009 Dilbert strip. Both are simple edits, no credit to me is required. Credit for first should go to tshirthell.com, and for the second dilbert.com and/or Scott Adams.

A comment to recent post in the icanhaschzbrgr feed inspired this small, basic set.

Credit for the first probably isn't necessary since they don't know who took the picture, but mentioning icanhascheezburger.com in the notes would probably be a good idea. For the other 4, since I added text, credit to ugli_icons (in addtion to a mention of icanhascheezburger.com) is appreciated, but not really necessary.

It took many edits, correcting fanfic terminology and spelling, but I'm finally readt to "officially" share this:

Arlo & Janis
It's been awhile since I worked on any icons, but today's Arlo & Janis amused me greatly, so I decided to animate it:

'E' is for Emo
Your inner child will cry, but your outer adult can't help but chuckle.

Don't bother crediting me, it's just a simple crop/resize job based on this shirt, so please credit tshirthell.com

Many months ago, I heard a kids joke that I thought was pretty funny:
Q: What did the zero say to the eight?
A: Hey, nice belt!
And the other day I decided to turn the idea into an icon... but when I tell the joke to people, I change it to a D and a B because some fonts have a line through the zero, so I made that into an icon, too... then for some reason I got the idea for another one with two symbols talking, but totally unrelated to the original joke. And since I make all my stuff using MS Paint, these particular icons were way too pixelly for my taste, so a guy known as tommygavin from an IRC chan and Bit Torrent community I'm a member of cleaned them up for me...

Two from today's comic strips...

The first one is just a crop/edit/resize from today's Pooch Café . Please credit Paul Gilligan, not me.

The picture in second one is taken from today's totally bizarre Dilbert. I cropped and resized, and edited in new text to make it a Rejected reference. Seriously, I'm not the only one who immediately thought of Rejected when I saw this guy's spoon, right? Anyway, if you use that one, please credit Scott Adams and me.

Okay, here's the deal... every once in awhile I get an idea for a basic, generic icon. It's basic, it's generic, but for some reason I don't have it, and I haven't actually seen it. My only guess is that it's so basic and generic, that people just don't bother taking the time to make it, figuring they'll get around to it some other time. So I decided, screw it, I'm gonna make a batch. No credit for these is necessary, but if you feel like crediting ugli_icons, that's fine.

12 more, some simply variations, some NSFW languageCollapse )

"I'm not a fatalist. But even if I were, what could I do about it?"
A goofy idea I had last night... and now that I think about it, the joke is so obvious that I'm surprised I haven't seen this before...

cheer up, emo kid

and for the hardcore Emo fans, here's his more recent, but lesser known, look, in case you want to be slightly obscure:

O RLY will never get old... ever
I slightly "remixed" yesterday's dilbert, and posted it in my main journal here, and divabat suggested I make it into an icon, so...

new from Nintendo...
Okay, really, this only make sense if you read today's Penny Arcade strip, which in turn only really makes sense if you read today's Penny Arcade news post, but I have a feeling that some people, especially feminists with a sense of humour (rare breed) and les/bi women (thankfully not rare at all), will want to use it.

Today's Marvin was just too perfect for iconification...

Usual comic strip icon rules apply, credit to me is not necessary, please credit the artist (Tom Armstrong), and use the word "Marvin" in your keywords.

Silly thing I though of yesterday, finally decided to make into an icon today:

Harry Potter reference, with specific reference to a famous HP-related icon regarding the death of a certain character.

edit: typo fixed... that'll be the last time I make an icon while stoned...

please don't kill me...
When I saw this shirt I laughed quite heartily... when I finished making this, I laughed again:

Potentially offensive humour warning! If you don't find shirts from T-Shirt Hell funny, don't look under the cut!Collapse )

One of the first time I made an animated gif with my old-school software and manged to keep it under 40kb (it's 7).

Sometimes Mutts is a goldmine for icon material, and all three panels of Tuesday's strip seemed to me like they could make decent individual icons, for a variety of different contexts outside the strip itself...

(my usual comic strip icon rules apply, credit the source material, but you don't have to credit me)

O RLY? kitteh!
I thought that I had posted my entire cat O RLY? cycle quite some time ago, but it appears that I only posted a few when I first started to make them... better late than never, I suppose.

Inspired by today's kittenbreak:

...and the animated extention of the third one:

I created all frames in Paint, animated with GifAnimation, and happysteve compressed my 134KB mess to a manageable 35KB.

The Many Faces of Hobbes
Some super-basic Hobbes icons from two recent strips:

. . .

As usual with my comic-strip icons, no credit is necessary since I just did basic erasing and cropping (didn't even need to do any resizing this time). Also, if you use these as bases, I'd really like to see your edited version.

Once again, a Drabble strip has inspired me to do a quick crop-job... this really makes no sense outside the context of the strip itself, but it was just so goofy I couldn't resist...

I decided to make a "something unexpected happened!" icon from the last panel of today's Mutts strip. My editing was minimal, so credit should go to Patrick McDonnell, creator of Mutts.
